Comfort Series For Winter
I used to be more of a movie buff but I grew to be a series binge watcher and I have a few comfort shows that I can’t help but rewatch over and over again. Wintertime is especially when you should pick your favorite series and find time to watch an episode or 2, or even more. My list is maybe quite short because Winter for me is full of Christmas films. But there are a few that I have to watch every Winter season!
- Riverdale - I watched this show for the first time only a few months back and already into my third round of it, haha. My mom started watching before I got into it and we just can’t get enough. It’s mystery, romance, comedy, and much of the series take place during the Winter season up in a fictional town called Riverdale in NY state. Each season has its own mystery to solve and enemies to deal with. The episodes I’m in now are at the end of the first season and so many snowy scenes which I’m loving!
- Chilling Adventures of Sabrina - If you don’t know already, Riverdale and Sabrina are in the same universe. So expect a crossover in the later seasons of Riverdale. The only difference is that Sabrina is a witch in one town over from Riverdale called Greendale. I have also watched this show many times and while the first episode takes place on Halloween, Sabrina’s birthday, it quickly goes into the Winter season with an episode all about Christmas, or rather, the Winter Solstice. Oh and I would suggest to watch The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina first since there will be spoilers in a later season of Riverdale.
- Teen Wolf - I just randomly got into Teen Wolf a few years back and I’m so glad I did. It makes me feel nostalgic for the high school experience I wish I had and for the friends I haven’t seen in many years. It’s both comforting and exciting every season. It’s also supernatural like Sabrina but of course, the main character is a werewolf. There are other supernatural creatures as well such as Banshees, Kitsunes, Nogitsunes, Kanimas, and more.
- Friends - I grew up with Friends because my parents, mainly my mom, watched it all the time. It’s a sitcom about a group of friends living in NYC as young adults and is probably the most relaxing and comforting show to watch for any season in my opinion. It’s funny, the more serious episodes are still not too serious, and I just love the characters so much. Especially Monica and Chandler who are hilarious as well as my favorites! - RIP Matthew Perry ❤️
- Stranger Things - This series follows a group of young boys along with a mysterious girl with powers who fight to save their friends, families, and town from a dark dimension. It takes place in the 80s, has a new enemy/creature every season, and most important, it has Steve. What’s not to love! As of right now, the newest and last season is yet to premiere and I’m so excited to see what will happen next.
- Game of Thrones - This is not the most relaxing show per se but it’s still one where I can sit and binge watch for hours. It takes place mostly in the Winter as well. “Winter is coming!” Just as the title says, it’s about different families throughout the kingdom of Westeros fighting to see who will claim the throne as king or queen. It’s exciting, sad, stressful, and even funny at times. Overall, it’s perfect for those looking for adventure. Warning - This is the only show not for little kids if you are looking for something to watch with family.
So there you have it! My short but exciting list of my favorite Winter series. They fill me with such comfort and I hope they do the same for you!
